"Lodging with a European Touch"
You have found the perfect Bed and
Breakfast for your visit to the Cape. Our Inn is very conveniently
located in the middle between the villages of Chatham and Orleans and
overlooks the enchanting Pleasant Bay. From here you can explore the
Cape without having to change your B&B: you unpack and pack only once.
The main house of the Inn has a history dating back to 1798. The Cape
Cod Times described the property as a possible part of the
"Underground Railroad." A trap door in the foyer leads to a small
space that might have been used as a hiding place during that time.
The Inn sits above Pleasant Bay, has its own beach and a dock with
moorings.
Accommodations: We have 9 bedrooms, all with private baths.
Some have bay views, others overlook the gardens. You can choose
between the Main House, the Paddock Rooms or our rustic Carriage House
that has two bedrooms. The Inn can boast of its commanding view of
Pleasant Bay, and many of the rooms let the guests enjoy this
breathtaking sight. Early risers can watch the sunrise appear over the
Bay, a truly colorful experience. The moon rise being reflected on the
Bay can be almost as spectacular. We also have our own small
sandy/pebbly beach and a dock for swimming, fishing and boating
(moorings are available). The Bay definitely lives up to its name:
Pleasant Bay, ideal for sailing, kayaking, swimming or strolling along
the water when the tide is out. If you come in the fall, you can
witness the harvest of the cranberries on the bog right next door.
Dining: A European Continental Breakfast is served to our
guests either on a patio overlooking wonderful Pleasant Bay or our
lovely gardens. A 5PM “Sherry Hour” in our lounge is included as well.
Meeting Facilities: The Inn is ideal for small exclusive
meetings.
Surrounding area:
Located on the narrowest part of the Cape, we have easy access to
several beaches on the Atlantic and the Cape Cod Bay side. You can
take short boat trip to the highly acclaimed, pristine South Beach and
to Monomoy Island where you can fish, swim and observe the shore
birds. In season, you can take a boat to watch the seals and whales at
play. We are also fortunate to be close to several challenging private
and public golf courses, many nature walks and bicycle trails. The
shops and restaurants in the villages of Orleans, Brewster and Chatham
are only minutes away.
