Built in 1771 by a sea captain, occupied for a half century by Nantucket’s leading female poet, and recently restored to its former luster, the inn combines the charm and romance of a bygone era with all the comforts of home.

12 rooms with private baths, air conditioning, televisions and free wireless internet access; many guest rooms with working fireplaces. 

With its many comfortable gathering areas, its fireplaces, the luxury of its rooms, its peaceful garden patio, and its spacious roof walk offering panoramic views of the town and the harbor, the Cliff Lodge is a place of easy elegance that can make you forget that you have ever worked for a living.

We serve a bountiful continental breakfast prepared by our pastry chef each morning. In the afternoon, we serve homemade treats and we are the only inn on Nantucket (other than our sister inn, the Martin House) to offer regularly scheduled afternoon teas.

Group Meetings/Retreats: With more than 40 years of experience in planning events from corporate to personal, the hosts at Cliff Lodge can provide you a comfortable group setting for your special event needs. The inn holds up to 30 people, making an exclusive and intimate setting for events such as:
