Fire Mountain Cuisine

Our cuisine is inspired by our spectacular setting, the locally grown seasonal and organic produce from our organic gardens here at Fire Mountain and the surrounding mountaintop farms of our immediate area. Our cuisine mirrors much of our philosophy at Fire Mountain – simplicity with subtle complexities.

We believe in cooking seasonally with locally and naturally raised foods. The culinary formula for Fire Mountain is based on creating light dishes built on seasonal produce. Using fresh, local ingredients means the menu is always changing. We believe that we are in a partnership with the land and are learning from it that sustainability is achieved when all relationships prosper.

Laurel Magazine – The Mountain Laurel, Highlands, North Carolina, February 2008:

Fire Mountain Inn, Cabins & Treehouses, with its sweeping panoramic views and vistas of faraway peaks, seem like a million miles from the concerns of the modern world and the effect is intentional.
"We want our guests to truly get away, to be able to rest, relax and rejuvenate" explains co-owner Hiram Wilkinson, who with his partner Mathew Gillen has spent 12 years shaping that vision. "Above all we desire for our guests to experience and enjoy the spectacular environment at Fire Mountain as much as we do"

Atlanta Magazine - Best Places to Catch Fall Color - October 2007
Fire Mountain Inn, Highlands, NC

Perched on a peak amidst the leaf peeper's paradise of Western North Carolina, Fire Mountain Inn is a secluded retreat with close ties to the land and a refreshing philosophy of organic hospitality

ROAM - The Premiere Magazine of the Blue Ridge Foothills & Mountains of NC - November 2005

Hot Accommodations: Luxurious Treehouses Fan The Flames Of Fire Mountain Fever. Every detail of the Fire Mountain Inn is carefully designed to create a simultaneous ambiance of luxury and casual comfort. Immediately my eye was drawn to the dining area's large expanse of floor to ceiling windows and their expansive sunset views of the mountains.

The INNside Scoop - August 2005 - Maxine Pinson, Publisher/Editor

Accurately touted as "one of the most unique and spectacular mountaintop hideaways in America", The amiable innkeepers have thought of everything to create a special experience for their guests, and their attention-to-detail is evident throughout the tastefully appointed inn and well-groomed grounds. Breakfast is superb, and our gourmet dinners (delivered to us in Bento boxes) were outstanding.
This is not just another B&B--it's a whole lot more! It is definitely an inn I want to visit again.
