Afternoon Tea: Full English afternoon tea is served Thursdays and Sundays. Tea sandwiches, warm scones with jam and clotted cream, millionaire's shortbread. – you'll think it's Hyde Park in London. Having Tea in New England calls it "the most proper tea this side of the Atlantic".
Family Getaways: The Governor's House is ideal for family celebrations, reunions, or just getting away together. Family meals are tailored to your individual tastes. We can provide birthday cakes, pack picnics and help organize activities for family members of all ages.
Private Parties: Use the library, the dining room, the back portico or the entire inn for a very special private gathering. We will create a menu to suit your individual needs.
Area Attractions: World-class Stowe is nine miles away with great skiing, restaurants, shops, outdoor activities and cultural events. There is a long list of places for both downhill and cross-country skiing as well as snowshoeing, dogsledding, sleigh rides, ice skating, hiking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing or kayaking. You can even canoe to a winery for a wine-tasting lunch.
Hyde Park is just nine miles from Stowe with great skiing and a multitude of restaurants, shops, outdoor activities and cultural events.

Rate: Jane Austen Weekend rates start at $295 for singles, $260 per person for doubles, $235 per person for triples, and include two nights' lodging, Friday evening's talk over dessert and coffee, full breakfast on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon tea, Saturday dinner and book discussion, early Sunday Continental breakfast, and the Jane Austen quiz with Sunday brunch. 9% Vermont tax is additional.
