Overlooking Spirit Lake near Vergas, Minnesota, the Loghouse and Homestead Bed and Breakfast is cradled amidst 115 acres of hills, fields and maple woods in the heart of the famous Minnesota lake country. We are an historical Bed and Breakfast, located in picturesque Otter Tail County. More than 1,000 sparkling lakes are surrounded by rolling hills and curving roads, free of billboards and full of wildlife. It is a verdant land in summer, a riot of color in autumn and pristine white in winter--a lovely playground in any season
The Loghouse and Homestead is comprised of two very different structures: the 1902 Swedish homestead original to the property and the innkeepers' great-great grandfather's 1889 loghouse, which was moved intact from northern Minnesota and still wears its original interior whitewash. Six generations of the innkeepers' family have slept under its roof. Now you can too!
Accommodations: All five guest rooms have private baths, lakeside balconies and abound with amenities. Three hiking trails grace the premises. Canoes, rowboats and snowshoes offer guests the best of Minnesota seasonal activities. It is a perfect choice for honeymoons and weddings.
Breakfast: At the Loghouse, breakfast occurs on the screen porch or in front of the fire in the parlor. At the Homestead, service is in-room on linen-dressed teacarts, while the Suite has its own breakfast room. Fresh- squeezed orange juice and fresh-ground coffee are "de rigueur." A variety of main dishes (crepes, eggs benedict, stratas and gratins, as well as several kinds of French toast are some examples) paired with local sausage and fresh fruit. All breads and sweets are fresh from the oven.

Weddings: We are ideally suited for lovely summer weddings. The view of the lake is marvelous and the area in the front of the Loghouse can accommodate several large tents. Caterers, music etc can be arranged. Parking is no problem. Very intimate weddings (10 and under) are frequently held in the parlor of the Loghouse--particularly at Christmastime. The Cottage can accommodate "standing" wedding ceremonies of up to 35. The reception is then held elsewhere. Each wedding is unique! Call for costs and particulars.
