Built in 1864 and named Mira Monte, "Behold the
Mountains", for the beautiful surrounding peaks of Acadia National Park.

Accommodations:
The Inn has 13 beautifully decorated rooms comfortably
furnished with period style pieces, private baths (some with Jacuzzis),
TV/VCR, phones, irons, ironing boards, hair dryers, and air conditioning.
Most of our rooms also offer fireplaces and balconies
for our guests' comfort and privacy.
The suites are in a separate building on the property -
just a short walk through the gardens. Two have a kitchenette, double
whirlpool bath, fireplace, bedroom, parlor, and private porch. The third
has two bedrooms and two baths, kitchen, dining bay, parlor with gas
fireplace, and a private deck overlooking the grounds.

Acadia's 33,000
acres of woodland, mountains, lakes, and shorefront surround Bar Harbor.
More that 60 trails and mountains as high as 1500 feet offer activities
ranging from gentle to strenuous. We have listed below just a few
activities that await you.
Outdoor Activities:
Hiking, biking, climbing, and
swimming. Strolling Bar Harbor's parks and shorepath. Golf galore at our
famous and historic golf courses. Visit the fascinating Wild Gardens of
Acadia. Walk the sandbar to Bar Island during low tide. Sea Kayaking for
all levels by two local firms. Canoeing and boat rental by several local
businesses. Swimming in Echo Lake near Southwest Harbor.
We are blessed, in and around Bar Harbor, to have a wide
array of events that take place indoors and out designed for evening and
more casual interests. There are also sightseeing busses and coaches
providing tours to almost the entire island.

The
Arcady Music Festival runs all summer. 4th of July parade and fireworks
exhibition. Summer theater in both Bar Harbor and Somesville. Bar Harbor
Days with food & activities galore. Many museums displaying our island's
history. Plenty of interesting shops and galleries. Walking tours of
historic buildings and homes. Buggy rides on Acadia's carriage roads.

Island. Five-minute walk to Bar Harbor's finest
shops and restaurants, and to the waterfront and is a five minute drive to
Acadia National Park, a 33,000 acre wonderland of mountains, seashore,
lakes, meadow and forest. The Park offers a full daily schedule of
Ranger-guided activities from early June to early October.
